About Stoermer
Our History
Stoermer Insurance Brokers was founded in 1968 when the need for specialty markets arose. “Riot” insurance and fire insurance for restaurants and properties, in areas where standard markets feared to tread, were the company’s initial offerings. Since 1968, the company has continued to evolve and offer products such as General Liability, Liquor Liability, E&O, D&O, Cyber, Personal Lines, and Environmental Liability to complement the evolving needs of the Independent Agent. Most recently, Stoermer Insurance Brokers has begun to offer web and phone quotes as an additional service to the agent.
Throughout the 50 years that Stoermer has been in business, several key acquisitions have fueled the expansion and growth of the organization:
- 1999 – Ed and Al Stoermer purchase Stoermer Insurance Brokers from the original founder of the organization. They have maintained ownership since.
- 2007 – Carnegie Insurance out of Cleveland is acquired and expands our offerings into non-standard auto.
- 2010 – Clark Insurance Brokers is purchased and expands the company’s presence in the greater Cincinnati area.
- 2012 – Black/White Agency’s Louisville operation is purchased and develops Stoermer’s footprint in Kentucky
- 2020 – Al Stoermer retires on December 31, 2020 and sold his shares of the company to Ed Stoermer
- 2023 – January 1, 2023 Ed Stoermer named Jason Stoermer President of the company and Ed is now the CEO
Stoermer is Easy to do Business With
Indications/Quotes – When marketing a prospect with little information we’ll provide you our best premium indication or “ballpark premium” so that the potential client has an idea of what it will cost. When the applicant decides to move forward we will then require a completed application in order to confirm the pricing and bind coverage.
Binding Authority Markets – There are several products in which Stoermer Insurance Brokers does all the underwriting in house. This provides us with the opportunity to give you the quickest possible service on the smaller accounts that we have the authority to underwrite. You can expect something back from us within 24 hours.
Web/Phone Quoting – When an agent needs a quote instantly they can call 888-282-2981 for a quote over the phone or visit the Web Quote section of our site to get terms online. Available products for this service are listed in the Web Quote section of our site.
Brokerage Markets – For the harder to place or more complicated risks, we have access to several markets that can provide terms. We submit all information received about an account to the insurance company and assist them with anything that they need to provide the best option. Depending on the extent of the risk it may take some more time to get an answer but we are always following up with the company and keeping the agent updated on the status.
Payment of Account – Policies and invoices are processed by Stoermer and will be in the agent’s hands within 10 days of binding. Payment is then due within 10 days of receiving the invoice. If a down payment is required it will be noted on the quotation. Account Current options are available for agents doing a large volume of business with Stoermer. This is done on an individual basis and should be discussed with Ed Stoermer (jason@stoermerco.com).
Claims – The most important element of the insurance policy is claim handling and processing. Information on reporting a claim is provided in every policy. A claim reported directly to Stoermer Insurance Brokers must be submitted by completing an Accord Loss Notice Form. This form can be emailed, mailed or faxed to our office. Upon receipt we will immediately notify the issuing company. Should the insured experience any problems we can provide additional assistance.
